Hi, my name is Janie. The new album Shaken Baby is created from scraps of ideas, thoughts and observations and epiphanies I've had over the past few years. A lot of stuff from around the time I used to busk with my guitar around London and walk all night from one side of the town to the other, west / east / north and south, practising my guitar as I walked, then sleeping in parks in the mornings once the gates opened.
I met a lot of really wonderful people then and of course also some right bastards (some of them I'd naively thought to be friends).
Lucky for me, after a gig at the Ad Lib in Earls court I was offered a 'flat-sit' in Baker street by a lovely lady called Katy, who ran the Venue. She was going to be away at the Edinburgh Festival for a few months and didn't want to leave her flat empty. I really wasn't well at that time and it was a lifesaver having somewhere I could rest safely for a few months and start to get back on my feet.
My heart goes out to those people today who find themselves in a situation that's similar, I think it's so much harder now thanks to so many incompetent political manoeuvrers and money-grabbing arseholes who don't give a damn about anybody else.
I think that's all I want to say about me for now anyway. You can work out more about my story, as expressed in music, lyric and artwork if you look around the site. I will add to all of this in the fullness of time.
